Downey Engineering has been involved in the design and implementation of control systems for a wide range of water treatment plants from self-contained, portable stations to more expansive, fully integrated systems.

Downey staff are involved in day-to-day operational support of municipal fresh and waste water treatment plants and have undertaken major, plant-wide upgrades of the control systems and HMIs at several treatment plants.

The manufacturing sector provides a diverse range of challenges to the control engineer. From multi-axis assembly machines and polished concrete to plastic tanks and signal tube manufacture, we have provided control system design, commissioning, modifications, service and support to manufacturers across Queensland.

The Darling Downs region is home to a wide range of food and beverage processors. This has seen Downey Engineering involved in many new projects, upgrades and critical breakdown  support of control systems across the industry.

We have experience and process knowledge across many sectors including: Dairies, Ice cream factories, Abattoirs, Maltings, Bakeries, Flour and Maize Mills.

As a result, our engineers have an excellent understanding of the processes and environments unique to the food processing industry as well as the need for minimising downtime in breakdown situations.

The strength of the agricultural industries surrounding Toowoomba is evident in the amount of experience that Downey staff have accumulated in materials handling.

From feedlots and feedmills to grain processing, milling and cotton ginning, our engineers have been involved in projects across the Darling Downs. As usual, our interest and experience in these projects spans from design and installation to ongoing support for the control systems throughout the life of the plant.

Like the industy itself, our experience in this field is quite diverse. Downey Engineering staff are involved in the day-to-day support of systems including facilities monitoring across multiple sites, dedicated backup generator control systems and the many control systems in place at coal-fired power stations.

We have also been involved in the control system design, commissioning and ongoing support of large scale refrigeration systems across several sites.

Downey Engineering's proximity to the Surat Basin and it's burgeoning gas, coal and oil industries has seen our involvement in the mining industry expand over recent years. We are involved in service and support and minor projects in coal mines, coal handling and coal wash plants as well as gas compression from Toowoomba westwards into the Surat Basin.
